Finance Assistant – Newry

Location: Murdock Hardwood – Newry
Reporting to: Financial Controller

About the Role

Murdock Hardwood is looking for an organised and reliable Finance Assistant to join our finance team in Newry. This is a key support role within the business, helping to ensure supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are kept up to date.

The role would suit someone with good attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a busy team environment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and credit notes
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
  • Preparing supplier payment runs
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving queries
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal departments
  • Maintaining accurate records within the accounting system
  • Assisting the finance team with general administrative duties
  • Assisting with Bank reconciliations
  • Supporting month-end procedures and reporting
  • Maintaining supplier accounts and setting up new suppliers
  • Assisting with audit and compliance documentation
  • Handling payment queries and resolving discrepancies promptly

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in an accounts or administration role preferred but not essential
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and computer systems
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage workload in a fast-paced environment
